"Yokohama Youth Event 2017" Held as 50th ADB Annual Meeting Follow-up Project
University students debate in English on the theme of sustainable growth in Asia

"Yokohama Youth Event 2017" was held on Thursday, October 26 during the Sixth Asian Smart City Conference. It served as a follow-up event to the Youth Seminar, which was held as part of the 50th Asian Development Bank (ADB) Annual Meeting in Yokohama earlier this year.

At the beginning of the event, Mr. Takashi Matsuo, ADB Representative for Japan delivered the keynote address, and the students from Yokohama National University and Yokohama City University gave bold presentations on specialized topics including Asian smart city development and Japanese corporations' infrastructure-related business endeavors in Asia. Specialists from overseas, ADB economists and others also took part, encouraging deeper exploration of the issues during English-language debates.

On October 27, as part of the main session for the Asian Smart City Conference involving mayors from cities around Asia, representatives from international organizations, and others, the representatives from both of the abovementioned universities gave outstanding speeches based on discussions held at the event.
